Incorporated in 1976, East Coast Converters
Limited originated to supply flexible plastic packaging to the
Newfoundland fishing industry. The company's intent was to have large
rolls of plastic, either printed or plain, brought from Ontario and
cut, or "converted" into plastic bags, sheets or pouches for the local
fishing industry. Hence the name East Coast Converters Limited. Founded
by the Hutton family, the company has undertaken major capital
investments to the point that since 1984, all manufacturing is
performed on site in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland.
The owners of East Coast Converters Limited have extensive knowledge
within the packaging industry. The company is part of N. C. Hutton
Packaging Group, which includes Canadian Folding Cartons Limited,
Hutton International Press and
Maritime Paper Products Limited. Together, these companies have as its
theme: "One Stop Shopping for All of Your Packaging Needs". The group
specializes in the design, development and production of packaging for
every stage of seafood processing, but as well, maintains the highest
standards of quality and efficiency for all packaging requirements.
The operation is led by Mr Chris Hutton who
recently won national
praise as one of the top CEO's in Atlantic Canada. His dedication to
becoming a full service manufacturer; taking product from BULK plastic
bead to printed and bar coded packaging has grown his operation to a
staff of 45 full-time workers.
